IT FOLDS! NEW BOAT DEBUTS AT FT. LAUDERDALE BOAT SHOW Oct 31
Dragonfly Boatworks in Vero Beach made something wonderful…a fiberglass boat that folds and it debuts at the Fort Lauderdale Boat Show on October 31st.
“We had a particular customer with a particular challenge,” said Mark Castlow, manager of Dragonfly Boatworks, “and, as in most challenges, the solution took on a life of its own.” Enter a man with a Rybovich Walkaround who wanted a 16' Emerger Tiller as a tender/fishing boat but did not want it stored on the bow or towed behind the big boat. Further, he wanted the skiff to fit on the transom in a smaller footprint and have a removeable lift system.
How do you get eighteen feet of boat and motor into a thirteen foot slot? The Dragonfly think tank went to work…you fold it. How do you make a fixed lift system removeable? You pass that one on to T.J. Kiefer at T-N-T, an aluminum fabrication company in Fort Pierce, who specializes in impossible marine demands. And he did.
See the results along with Dragonfly's choice of propulsion (30 hp Evinrude Outboard) at Booth #1003 (Bahia Mar location) at the 54th Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show starting October 31st. “We'll be there all five days with lots of products,” added Castlow, “or stop in at our plant in Vero Beach.”
Dragonfly Boatworks is a young company with lots of “old” experience. The company prides itself on building innovative skiffs and paddle boards…each crafted to perfection. Their motto is “Building one of a kind, one at a time.” And the result? A personalized, streamlined, shallow-water craft.
